Cash For Clunkers

I decided (thanks to my dad for the idea :)  to do a sort of photo essay on this whole cash for clunkers program going on right now. This was back when I was at home, so it was the Sheehy Ford dealer there. It's taken me until now to post them haha. It's hard narrowing it down!

So anyway, there were all these clunkers just lined up in the parking lot hood to trunk, as tight as they could...pretty close to their new cars--a sad comparison. Most were so close they were touching tail light to bumper. They were distinctly marked with C4C or CL, DO NOT SELL. I tried to capture the irony of it, that each of these cars has such a story behind them based on what was left behind; stickers, the condition of the car, the rust...it's all so representative of their owners as well as the whole nature of the program. The best part to me, as you'll see, is how quickly they were abandoned, to the point where clunkers is spelled wrong, and people started coming up with creative ways to abbreviate the program's name.

So as always, let me know what you think :)

  2. Jess, I will be happy to come back tomorrow and help you narrow your photos down to six. It is very hard; a photo is all in the eye of the beholder. When doing assignments, I always submit several of my favorites and some I am not sure that I like. Sometimes my photo editor will pick one I would have put in the trash bin. I learned many years ago never to second s a photo editor.

I am off to bed now. I have jury duty in the morning, 2 assignments, and I will be back tomorrow evening. In the meantime, they all look great to me.

    Love that carnival ride photo.

  3. These are sweet, Jess!

I answered your questions in my comments. Go check it out. Oh and I use a Canon Powershot SX10IS 10MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom... to be specific. LOL! It's not as cool as the Rebel, but it gets the job done.

  4. OK. I'm late but I'm back. It is a hard choice. I do like the last photo, the next to last photo, little kid and cross photo, Shenny Ford (because that gives the viewer a location), the bolt on the back of the pickup on both photos (but I like the second one best. Also like the tight shot of the cars that are bumper to bumper, and the mirror shot.

I did not download these. They really needed to be viewed side by side. When you put them into a photo essay look at them again in a side by side group. If it does not look right take one out and add another.

    You did a great job.
