I took my boyfriend's little sister's senior pictures the other day, and they turned out SO great!! The best part is, we literally drove around her neighborhood finding random places for her to pose. No fancy equipment, in fact it was even cloudy about 90% of the time! But like I said before, cloudy days can tend to be the best for shooting in terms of even lighting.
So anyhoo, here are a few of my personal favorites...since of course, she had her own
favorites. It was such a great experience. It was that push to get me to the next level of
photography that I really needed. And well...it did kind of help to have a beautiful subject :)
Let me know what you guys think!
Jess, these are fantastic! Great pictures (: I have yet to experience portraits, but I hear they are one of the best and most rewarding photography fields out there. These shots are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures always make me smile.
Wow, Jess, these are terrific! Honestly, I'm VERY proud of you! You're gonna go somewhere kid (and I mean NO disrespect)!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to continue to follow along your career!
Hi, Jess! Great shots! Love the outfit changes. And what a cute model! Senior portraits can be a serious money-maker for a professional photographer.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to take pro portraits, you may be interested in the PPA: Professional Photographers of America. Try and find your local chapter. They have student membership levels. When I was a student (not too long ago) I got to attend the annual convention for free, provided I helped out with some physical labor here and there. And one of the talks was specifically about making a whole business out of taking high school senior photos.
Congratulations to Lindsey and to you for such beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteCloudy days are always my friend. There is nothing worse than going on an assignment and being hit by harsh light. Or worse, having the sun directly behind my subject with no way to recompose.
Perfect photos, all, but I love the black and white photo. Looks like she is heading out into the world with a great outlook.
Thanks for stopping by, Jess. (: The program I used is called Picnik. I hadn't heard of it until recently, and when I went I found out most of their available effects are free! They also have a program where you pay like $3 a month in order to use all of the effects they have available.
ReplyDeleteI am the luckiest person in the world to have Jess as part of my family!!! I knew at the beginning of the year I wanted Jess to do Lindsay's pictures. I knew I would love them, she has pure natural talent!! The best part of all of this, is when I went to CVS to get them developed, the lady checking me out asked me where the original photos where. I was confused and held up Jess' jump drive. She said I'm sorry I can't sell these to you because they are PROFESSIONAL pictures and you cannot make copies. I was trying to explain that yes they do look professional but my son's girlfriend (who is extremely talented) took them. She honestly did not believe me, then finally she said wow she is amazing these look wonderful. I couldn't be more proud of Jessica even if she was my own. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for these pictures that will last a lifetime. Just wait until you take the one's with Lindsay and her horse!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the biggest compliment when the people at a store wont process your images..that word..that we all crave- "professional". You did an amazing job on these photos!! Very beautiful and what a great idea to walk around the neighborhood searching for great spots!
ReplyDeleteThese are really great! You should check out this guy's work. He's super creative and really has a way of thinking outside the box. He mostly does weddings, but I think his work could translate (inspirationally speaking) to single portraits as well. :) I knew him wayyy back in the day from my hometown in Idaho.

Hey, hate repeating from what everyone was saying but These are great portrait shots! I can see why the associate girl was cautious about reproducing them. they do look professionally done.
ReplyDeleteIn this field, If you landed with the right contact, this is where you can make big money. For inspiration, checkout people like Mario Testino. These are the guys you want to follow their footstep. Think Big & you'll make it Big. You've got the talent. So Hey, why not? Keep up the good work!
Jess,
ReplyDeleteThese portraits are stunning!! You have such a gift! Amazing!
Very beautiful photographs. While the photos portray Lindsay, her happy and relaxed mood is a reflection of her relationship with the photographer you! Well done both!
